CR-V RE4 Steering Pump: Compare Inlet Orientation from the Same View

Before deciding that two steering-pump inlet elbows point in different directions, check how the units have been photographed. A pump rotated on a white background can make a matching feature look different—or hide a real difference.

For the selected CR-V RE4 assembly, the listed downward-facing inlet-elbow configuration is a fitment check. A genuinely different inlet orientation is a separate variant, not something to resolve by accepting a similar casting.

Start with the restricted application

The RE4 K24Z1 pump without pulley is for the listed Australian 2.4L petrol 4WD SUV applications, 02/2007–10/2012, with reference 56110-PNB-A01. The scope does not establish RD-series, 2.0L, diesel or later RM fitment.

Use the VIN, build month, chassis and engine identification with the original reference. Do not treat a shared “Honda 2.4L” description as an interchange statement across CR-V, Accord or Odyssey applications.

Align the views before judging the elbow

Actual product-gallery view. The image orientation is a photographic view, not an instruction for installed direction.
  1. Find the shaft face and a recognisable mounting ear on both photographs.
  2. Compare views taken from the same side of the pump.
  3. Check the inlet elbow relative to those fixed features, then compare the hydraulic connections and original reference.

If one view hides the elbow or outlet, request another photograph. Do not infer the hidden connection from a similar unit. A diagram or image of a different variant should not substitute for the actual assembly being supplied.

Remember the bare-shaft package

This selected offer is supplied without a pulley. The drive belt, fluid, hoses, reservoir and installation hardware are also excluded. The installer should confirm any additional service requirements and whether an existing component can be reused.

The comparison does not provide shaft measurements, a pulley-removal method or hydraulic test specifications. Use the vehicle-specific service information for those requirements.

Make an unresolved difference visible

Send the original and proposed views together, label which is which and identify the feature that does not agree. A clear uncertainty is more useful than a guessed match. Have the workshop establish the actual steering fault separately before replacing parts.
